Hot Spot!

Intersection of Taxiways J, A, C, K and Main Ramp

When runways 19 are in use aircraft taxiing from the main ramp must join taxiway A in front of the tower. This is the intersection of four taxiways (J, A, C, K) plus the main ramp. It's a very confusing area! If an aircraft misses taxiway A and continues northwest on taxiway J, it will cross runway 19L, an active runway. Note the red sign at left indicating runway 19L (red arrow). The yellow arrow indicates where taxiway A continues north.

This is what it looks like from the tower as an aircraft taxis from the main ramp enroute to runway 19L or runway 19R. As you can see, it's anybody's guess at this point as to whether the pilot will turn right to follow taxiway A or continue across the active runway 19L!
Are they going to make the turn or not?

Whew!! Made it!
