Box 92007, Los Angeles, CA 90009 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AWP-5 04-01 FAA/Hollywood Bowl ask concert noise help The FAA and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association ask that pilots avoid flight over the Hollywood Bowl and John Anson Ford Amphitheatre during the summer concert season. Music concerts will be held nightly from 6 p.m. to midnight, June 29 to Sept. 30, 2001. White searchlights and strobe lights over the outdoor Hollywood Bowl will alert pilots that a concert at the Bowl is in progress. A single strobe light will be used for marking the Ford Amphitheatre performances except when the bowl and Ford are running music concurrently when all strobe lights will be on. The Bowl and Ford Amphitheatre are in Cahuenga Pass, five miles southeast of Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport and 15 miles north-northeast of Los Angeles International Airport. Both are near the intersections of Airways V-186, V-459 and V-201, and within a five-mile radius of Golden State (I-5) and Hollywood (U.S. 101) freeway intersections. The FAA will modify aircraft flight patterns when possible to minimize noise for concert audiences. Announcements recommending pilots avoid flights in the vicinity of the Hollywood Bowl and Ford Amphitheatre during the summer concert series will be broadcast on the Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) at airports in the Los Angeles Basin.
